How to Measure an Application's Startup Time with AppTimer

Now test and measure which of your applications run slow and which run faster. Measure the start up time that any of your application takes to start .. Yes this standalone utility (means you wont need to install it to run it) by Passmark called AppTimer can benchmark the startup time taken by an application to start.

How it works ?

Basically AppTimer runs a user selected application a number of times and calculates the amount of time it takes for it to get to a useable state each time. The time is benchmarked and saved as a log that you specify.

Note : The time varies with the condition and configuration of your computers. Say for instance you have 5 applications opened then it may take more execution time compared to when you have no applications opened.

Adsense Kontera Or Adbrite ? Which one to choose ?

Well a lot of bloggers or website owners want to make the most out of a website. Advertisements are the best form of revenue from a website.

As you can see I have been running Adsense as well as Kontera on my blog to monetize it. Well actually I added Kontera on my blog when I read on some blog (don’t remember or would have linked it here) that Kontera’s EPC is quite better than that of Adsense.

For those who don’t knoEPC is the Estimate Cost Per Click that we get in revenue when an ad on your website is clicked

Also many blogs claim Adbrite paying more EPC to its publishers compared to Adsense. And quence my thirst to find this out I used Kontera, Adsense and Adbrite on one of my website..

And for me I was surprised to see Google Adsense is still ahead of the other two in terms of EPC

The website used to test this was from technology niche. So as you can see that Adsense still performs best for me at 0.22$ per click… So in my opinion Adsense is the best ad network with the highest ECP.

Its time to Upgrade your Wordpress Again – How to Upgrade from Wordpress 2.6.2 to Wordpress 2.6.3

As my opened my blog’s dashboard today, the first thing that I noticed was please upgrade your wordpress package.

Well I knew Wordpress 2.7 was to be released in November. But never expected 2.6.3 to be out. And this may be the last time I am upgrading wordpress as Wordpress 2.7 is to be incorporated with an auto upgrade feature. Cool !

So coming back to 2.6.3, the upgrade 2.6.3 was necessary as recently there was a critical vulnerability announced in the Snoopy Library. And our wordpress uses the same to get feeds in the dashboard. This is a simple upgrade and I wont recommend you to download the complete 1.2 MB package and upload it to your server and go throught the upgrade process if you are already running Wordpress 2.6.2. Basically only 2 files needs to be replaced here in case of upgrade from Wordpress 2.6.2 to.Wordpress 2.6.3 which are (more…)
