The Proof of Concept is that Google Chrome does not warn you before downloading anything in an IFRAME and neither does it warn you before opening the downloaded file. 10 ways to protect and secure your PC from Internet Threats

1. Using a secure web browser and avoid pop ups to the maximum. Good websites dont have any pop ups. We don’t have any either (We recommend Mozilla Firefox 3)
2. Don’t install any freeware utility like anti spywares, antivirus etc from any websites. They might be injected with malicious code. We recommend Softpedia and CNET’s Download.com for downloading freewares and applications since they are tested.
3. Personally we recommend AVG as a free solution, and if possible go for buying one (Bitdefender is a good option in that case). We don’t recommend playing with the antivirus settings/options if you dont know as you may be allowing a door open for threats.  Multiple Anti virus can never do the best because using multiple antiviruses can cause conflicts as I heard. But personally I use both AVG and BitDefender.
4. Frauds and phishing scams are hot issues these days.. Almost every next door in our neighbourhood people has already got their lesson but if you haven’t I just wish you good luck (Well people who are well aware  with using computers please dont critize us because this is a tutorial to those who are not aware of scams). Personally even I got attacked by a phishing attempt and I even submitted my credit card information thinking it was Paypal. Thanks to the almighty that my credit limit was over that time and the attacker was not able to rip me off.
5. Make sure you clean your cookies and sessions (temporary internet files saved by browsers) each time you leave your computer because cookies contains sensitive information that can be used to login into accounts without even needing your password. 6. Before using any external storage like USB Drives make sure you scan them. Most of the antiviruses do this automatically (Atleast Bitdefender does.. Lol looks like im marketing Bitdefender for nothing.. Yeah but its really good. I wish Bitdefender gives me a free license for this )
7. Do not reply to emails that come from unknown users unless and until you feel you have to. No replying emails cannot actually harm your computer but if it is an email from a spam group then your email will get listed on all spam mailing lists..
8. Make sure you perform regular scans for antivirus, check disk at interval of atleast once a weekand regularly update your Anti Virus. You may also defrag your disk drives for faster performance. You can use scheduled task for this. If you are unsure about using this feature, here’s one tutorial on setting up scheduled tasks
9. Similarly make sure you do scheduled backups too to avoid missing your important files in case any thing happens. And make sure you keep you windows and all your applications updated regularly. Follow the policy of “Backup Often Backup Early“
10. The last thing is do not trust any one on your network if you are using Internet on LAN. Use a firewall to avoid local hacks. Yes there are many little buddy hackers residing next door to steal your privacy.

The principle behind internet is networking. Network – as we know, the interconnected system of things or people. Like a network of computers.

So the internet is generally global system of interconnected computer networks. Yes it is the biggest network of computers on earth. All the computers connected to the internet are actually connected to each other through the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) which in turn are connected to the bigger routers or the backbone of the internet. This backbone is a computer network of commercial organisations, government organisations, military, academics etc. The backbone is a large server where the data is exchanged or transferred through. These backbones are connected to each other through fiber optical cables. The ISPs are connected to these backbones through fiber optic cables in order to minimize the transmission loss. Then the users are connected to ISPs through cables or wireless routers. There is an authority called The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) which coordinates the assignment of unique identifiers on the Internet, like the IP Addresses and the Domain Name so that you can analyze what is being done from where to conserve the security throughout. So this is how your internet works.

If it is just a network then why is it not free ?

This is the first question that flicks one mind. Well if the internet is just a network of computers then isn’t it free ? Even I wonder that but the thing is the backbones are very high end servers that might require heavy maintainance and the under sea cables and fibres that might need regular maintainance. So for maintaining the backbones and the connections they require good volume of currency which might be charged by the ISPs. Even the ISPs have their instruments to be maintained so they charge the end user. Thats it! Maybe on earth a day will come when you might get internet for free, as of now we need to pay.
