Now test and measure which of your applications run slow and which run faster. Measure the start up time that any of your application takes to start .. Yes this standalone utility (means you wont need to install it to run it) by Passmark called AppTimer can benchmark the startup time taken by an application to start.
How it works ?
Basically AppTimer runs a user selected application a number of times and calculates the amount of time it takes for it to get to a useable state each time. The time is benchmarked and saved as a log that you specify.
Note : The time varies with the condition and configuration of your computers. Say for instance you have 5 applications opened then it may take more execution time compared to when you have no applications opened.
Just Download the application, open it, configure and run your tests. How simple is that..
Using Apptimer.. How do I perform a test ?
Using AppTImer is quite simple.. Just follow these steps.
Download, Unzip and launch the executable (.exe) file
Choose an Application by clicking the browse button ( Example : C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe )
Set a file to save the logs ( Example : C:\Logs.txt )
Make sure the application you are testing is not already opened
Now Click on “Run App”
AppTimer will run the selectged app and close it. And the app’s start up time is recorded in the log file that you’ve set. Open it and check the benchmark time..
